A New Wonderland - Frank Baum 1st editiion, A binding (c.1900).
Only 1 left in stockAdditional photos
This is actually the FIRST CHILDREN'S BOOK WRITTEN BY BAUM (although Mother Goose In Prose reached publication before A New Wonderland, this was written earlier and delayed in publication). This is a marvelous fantasy taking place in Phunnyland inhabited by Princes Zingle and Fiddlecumdoo, Timtom and the Princesses Truella and Pattycake. Illustrated by FRANK VER BECK with pictorial endpapers, 16 2-color plates including title, plus numerous black and whites. This title, which was an obvious attempt to cash in on the popularity of Alice In Wonderland, was drastically reworked and later published as The Surprising Adventures of the Magical Monarch of Mo. A notoriously rare Baum fantasy, that when found is usually lacking the frontis. This copy is complete with 16 plates. Hinges repaired Condition: Good+. 1st state, A binding Complete copies if found usually sells for over $7000. -
