Masks, Costumes
masks and costumes make great wizard of oz gifts for someone who collects toys. The earliest Wizard of Oz masks can be traced back to the 1939 movie. They were produced exclusively by Loew's company and were offered for display or promotions.

Rare Wizard of Oz string holder from 1950s in mint condition.
Out of stockWizard of Oz String Holder. One of eight characters produced.
They are typically measuring between 5.5x7” to 5.5x8”. c. 1950s. Each string holder has ©MGM incised text along with numbers “3901-3906” in edges. High relief painted plaster with holes in mouth with string. Recessed backs have original metal hangers at top. Very highly detailed depictions including simulated tarnish to Tin Man’s face and hat. A superb complete set. Each of the 4 main characters are listed for $395.00 in the 2007 edition of Schroeder’s Antique Price Guide. In May 2010, set of 4 sold for $2530 including commissions.Please check link(http://www.hakes.com/item.asp?AuctionItemID=55438#pictures ). Glinda, Wicked Witch, Wizard and Toto are very rare and selling for over $1000 each.

Rare Original Tin Man Party Mask from 1939

For Halloween in 1939, the Einson-Freeman Company issued 5 different paper masks capitalizing on the Wizard of Oz movie. Masks were also handed out by Santa in the toy department of a New York department store. The characters included Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, the Lion, and the Wizard. Patent #2021593 There is some light crinkling to the paper, about a 1/4" closed tear at the bridge of the nose, and a teeny chip on of the top of the hat. Both rubber band ear holders, with the Einson tags and patent numbers, are still present. One tag also says "copyright 1939, released by Loew's Incorporated". All in all, a nice and original Oz collectible. -

Masks were also handed out by Santa in the toy department of a New York department store. The characters included Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, the Lion, and the Wizard. Patent #2021593 For something so fragile, the mask is in good condition. There is some light crinkling to the paper, about a 1/8" closed tear at the bridge of the nose, and some chipping at the base of her ringlets and chin. Also some small closed tears on edges. Both rubber band ear holders, with the Einson tags and patent numbers, are still present. One tag also says "copyright 1939, released by Loew's Incorporated". All in all, a nice and original Oz collectible. -

This Wizard of Oz set includes a hardback storybook, Emerald glasses, and 3 paper masks. The book is dated 1998 Zyperpac, Inc. It is a 5 ½” x 8 ¼” hardback book. The set comes in a nice Tin-Man-Shaped Carrying Case. This was a very limited edition. -
