Wizard of Oz game. Fairchild Co. 1957
Only 1 left in stockAdditional photos Sold in 2008 opened with some damage for $480 http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/5653016
From 1957, The All Fair board game of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. This one is used with the most wear affecting the spinner with severe rubbed away graphic in the circular pattern of the spinning action. The 4 wooden play marker pieces are here and 31 of the 32 playing cards are present. The cards do show some fading and handling wear. Please see photos and ask questions in advance. The original directions have some folds and wrinkling. Interestingly the opposite side of the directions tell the Original story of the Wizard of Oz and do it on one page. The game box is in a condition I'd call fair and repaired. The front long side panel was glued back on and shows seam and corner damage plus seam wear around the box. The plain insert is inside. The game board is bowed to the middle and has creasing and splotchy bright areas which appear to be from age and or storage. The top is mostly flat, glossy and colorful. Despite its flaws and wear this game can display well. It is intended for an adult collector to display and no longer recommended for children of any age to play with. Game measures approximately 8 1/2 X 16 1/2 X 1 1/4 inches. -
Wizard of Oz game, 1939, Whitman Publishing CO.
Only 1 left in stockAdditional photos
This is a "must have game" for the serious The Wizard of Oz fan to add to your collection or to give as a gift. It is entitled, "The Game of The Oz". It was published in 1939, the year the movie was released. It was "based on the motion picture", produced and released by Loew's Inc, with a copyright of 1939. It was produced by Whitman Publishing. This delightful game has a beautiful litho board that shows all of your favorite Oz characters including Dorothy, the Scarecrow, The Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man, the Flying Monkeys and the Wicked Witch. The board is a soft board and is in very good condition with minimal wear. There is one very light soiled spot as seen in the pictures. It measures approximately 18 1/2 by 13 inches. The box has some damage as seen in the pictures including some moisture damage and a busted end. The box measures approximately 13 1/4 by 7 inches. This is a wonderful early The Wizard of Oz game that does not show up for sale very often in any condition. The board would look great framed. This game comes from the extensive collection of famous game collector Alex G. Malloy (He's written several books on games. Check him out on Amazon). It is mentioned In wizard of oz Collectors treasury reference book on page 134. -
